Managed Care Accountability Set (MCAS)

California DHCS Medi-Cal Managed Care Quality Measures

DHCS · Medi-Cal

The Managed Care Accountability Set (MCAS) is the set of quality measures the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) uses to hold Medi-Cal managed care plans accountable. Most MCAS measures are drawn from the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), so the work that improves your Medi-Cal performance is the same work that strengthens your HEDIS and Medicare Stars results.

IEFMC helps practices and groups meet and exceed MCAS minimum performance levels—closing care gaps, improving documentation, and engaging Medi-Cal members so no measure slips below threshold.

Required Performance Levels DHCS sets minimum performance levels for each MCAS measure; falling short can trigger corrective action for plans and the groups they contract with.
One Effort, Many Programs Because MCAS mirrors HEDIS®, the same gap-closure work counts toward your commercial and Medicare quality results too.
Better Care for Medi-Cal Patients Stronger MCAS performance means earlier screenings, better chronic-care management, and improved outcomes for your most vulnerable patients.
